Cornwall has become a haven for 'foodies' - offering an extensive choice of home-grown products from an abundance of Cornish producers. Self-catering holidays in Cornwall are a great way to come and enjoy some of this delicious local Cornish cuisine.
The Cornish Pasty Association has produced this video to emphasise the importance of the Cornish Pasty to the county. This video looks at the history and heritage of the Cornish Pasty as well as showing how a genuine Cornish Pasty is made.
In 2011 the Cornish Pasty was awarded Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), rightfully giving it the same status and protection as other world renowned products like Parma Ham, Camembert Cheese, and Champagne, thus ensuring that only a real pasty, made in Cornwall the traditional way can be called a Cornish Pasty.
So if you're coming to Cornwall, on a self-catering holiday, make the most of some of this wonderful local food, and 'tickle your taste buds', - from clotted cream to sea salt, cheeses to chocolate, scones to safron cake - and of course, don't forget to enjoy a 'world famous' Cornish Pasty!
And if you're not coming to Cornwall, you can always order a Cornish Pasty online, and have it delivered to your home! see Pasties by Post
