Local Pub Recommendations For Your Holiday In Cornwall - Specially Selected For Luxury Self-Catering Cottage Holidays In North Cornwall

One of the questions my guests always ask me when they come on holiday to Cornwall and stay at Rooky's Nook is 'can you recommend some local pubs?' Here are a few local Cornish pubs: on the coast, up on the Moors, or in a local Cornish village:

St Kew Inn, St Kew (not to be confused with St Kew Highway!). This 15th Century Inn has always been a significant local venue, hostings auctions, political meetings, weddings, wakes and Cornish wrestling - said to have been held in the meadow which is now the car park! It now offers great food (booking recommended), in 2 separate dining areas plus the main bar and garden (weather permitting). - Great for a lazy lunch, or special evening meal - in a lovely setting, all year round, and one of my favourite local places to eat out! It has also been voted one of the top 50 pubs in the U.K. and received Michelin Bib Gourmet recognition.

It is also 'The Highest Inn in Cornwall' (around 720 feet above sea level), set on the edge of Bodmin Moor between Camelford and Bodmin. With an extensive 'Specials Board' (which covers one complete wall) including 25 different dishes, separate Bar menu - including the legendary Mini and Maxi Moorland Grills (available lunch and evenings), plus the all day Sunday Carvery (with a selection of 4 freshly cooked meats) it's a real 'culinary treat'. The dog friendly bars, huge roaring fires and sloping beam ceilings ensure you enjoy a 'proper Cornish welcome". (Booking is recommended.)

Whilst also serving food (see their 'Coastal Pub and Kitchen menu) my recommendation is to go here for a drink, and soak up the fantastic view over the cliffs, beach and sea. If you stay and watch the sunset over the water - it's simply fantastic, and very romantic! The Port William is also dog friendly, and a great place to 'paws for a pint', after walking the coastpath, or just admire the view!

The White Hart St Teath  Located opposite the Clock Tower in the centre of St Teath, this is one of the closest local pubs to Rooky's Nook serving good 'pub grub', traditional ales (St Austell beers), with a friendly atmosphere. Great for a 'pie and a pint' when you can't be bothered to cook for yourself, or fancy a local pint. It is also dog friendly, and nearby (only a short drive away).

So if you are coming on holiday to Cornwall,
why not visit these local Cornish pubs whilst you're staying at
